We’re getting older

And it's a privilege. Our bodies become badges for what they've done as they've housed us though our years. Some of us have pursued athletics at various levels and pushed our bodies in the name of optimal performance. Some of us not, but no matter what, we all do repetitive movements and in those repetitive movements, our bodies become super efficient. If we sit all day, our bodies morph to efficiency in a sit and often at a compromise for our spine and hip health. If we pound away on keyboards, carpel tunnel may eventually show up. If we stand all day cutting hair or cleaning teeth, our backs grow to accommodate and other muscles that aren't meant to take load, take on more load. While our bodies become efficient with repetition, we also experience compromise and pain in the name of it. Our bodies house the story of our lives and each one unique. No matter what, one truth seems to ring true for every single one of us. We need to keep moving these bodies. We need to keep moving in a way that serves us. We need to be able to tune into our bodies with mindfulness so that we move intelligently. Moving is medicine, and each of us refines our ability to tune into the right dose for our house. Whether that happens on the mat, or on the mountains, in the gym or on a walk, moving is life. We all want to keep doing the things we love doing. I think that's the best definition of fitness.
