"I don't have time and throw on Christmas too!"
If you read my Willow Whispers, or have taken a few of my classes, you know by now, I kinda like change. I like changing perspectives and I like taking in and enjoying life from different angles.
Oh, for the many reasons/excuses we make for not taking care of ourselves. Especially in December! Am I right? We are so busy and this month is the busiest. We tell ourselves January will present differently and then, then life will work for a regular self care infusion. Sadly, those New Year Resolutions seem to slip away whether or not we have our winter ice. I want to propose a new approach. :)
Make an appointment in your planner for yourself; your appointment with yourself. A doctor or a dentist appointment, a contractor finally available to come to your house and fix the thing! you simply don't cancel. You make it work. At the end of the day, we really do the thing that we really wanted to. But, you matter the most. The relationship you have with you, is first. From there, all other relationships, responsibilities and To Do's flow. When we take care of our bodies, our minds and our hearts, we make peace with ourselves and we move differently in the world. Why are we waiting till January to do that?
Make the appointment. I have several classes each week. Find one or two that work and write them down. Appointment made.✅ And instead of feeling horrible Jan 1, or 2, you feel reeeeeally good and ready to glide with grace and intention right into 2020, and without the belly bloat!
Recent research has found starting an exercise regimen may be the single best way toward getting healthy. "It's hard to start a diet. Most people feel deprived from the get-go," says study co-author Molly Bray, chair of the department of nutritional sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. "Instead of taking something away, you can add physical activity to your life, and the consequent changes may be significant in the way you eat." Many of the exercisers started making more nutritious choices, like eating fruits, vegetables, lean meats, fish and consuming fewer fried foods, sodas and cookies. Other studies have shown that exercise can stimulate and change brain function, which may spark an urge to eat more healthfully too. What a gift you're giving yourself! Think of it as a Christmas present and not just another new year New Years Resolution.
Well, I think we have taken back December. It really is a wonderful month and a perfect appointment for self care and a whole lot healthier Christmas.
Cheers to the privilege of the practice!
The light in me sees the light in you,
Jill
