Gym Rat?
You don't need to hit the gym to strengthen or sculpt or tone your body. You can truly turn to yoga for toning muscles throughout your entire body.
With toning, you're looking to reduce body fat and replace it with lean muscle. When we use high repetition exercises, like a vinyasa flow or a similarly linking of movements we create a way for change. Unlike weight training, which is great for building muscle mass, yoga uses your own body weight as resistance, which strengthens and define your muscles over time. In addition, studies show yoga is excellent for bone strength in the same way as weight training. Go yoga!
Yoga can also be similar to cardio workouts like running, an exercise known to build lean muscle. Running is an aerobic form of exercise that burns body fat for energy to keep you moving, while simultaneously strengthening your legs and core with each step. Imagine completing 10 Sun Salutations in a row, feeling your heart beating and the strain of your muscles and all without the pounding impact on your joints. Go yoga!
