Yoga be like

Flexibility seems synonymous with yoga. In fact, many (lots of) people never make their way to a yoga mat, because they deem themselves "far too tight for yoga." Trust me, I hear this all the time. "Well then, I say, let's get started!" People either come to the practice of yoga to gain more flexibility when they're finally really ready to get out of chronic discomfort and pain from feeling sooooo tight, or they're naturally quite flexi and so like most of us, lean into what we're naturally good at. Welcome to every single yoga class!

In truth, many naturally highly flexible people lack muscle strength and control, which can eventually cause an overuse injury at the joint insertion. Yoga is amazing at strengthening the muscles around the joint by moving with control and muscular engagement while at the same time enhancing healthy range of motion we need in order to enjoy the activities we love. Yoga is so be like that. Those of us who tend to lean into muscular strength over flexibility 🙋🏻‍♀️ well, our work is to release some of that muscular tension so we can find healthy feel good mobility too. You gotta love yoga, right?? But, ya gotta keep actively working on it, right?? All the good things in life truly do take time to cultivate. It's true! Success always, always has a back story. and yet all that back story, seems hidden in our culture of keep scrolling for immediate results. Geesh.

Workin' on our big and beautiful backstories in class. C ya there,

Jill
