This Day & Me
Hey guys. Welcome to a brand new week. Will part of it include time on your mat? We hear people using the term "me time" as an expression to get away from work and family obligations in order to rest and recharge. I hear that. Someone recently used that term and I heard it in a new way.
We can spend much of our lives planning our next get away, or our next escape. In fact, we can spend much of our lives gritting our teeth in our day to day and the only way we get through is by having the next "me time" on the calendar. Hmmmm.
We really are meant for so much more. Cliché, but really.
When we slow pace on our mats, we absolutely do receive a bit of "me time," but me time becomes more about connecting to myself in compassion and acceptance and appreciation for my whole life. The shapes we make with our bodies become roadways into knowing ourselves and even beginning pathways to becoming someone we really like in our day to day without feeling we have to escape to feel whole and at peace. Yoga can help us find a new way in and we catch marvel of who we really are, knowing we are far more than our obligations and the product of our work. We are even more than our getaways. Each day becomes an opportunity, an expression of "me time." I love a vacation get away, or a self indulgent spa moment, but I really love getting to live in my day to day with less grin and bear and a whole lot more peace and joy. Let's move. Let's' breathe. Let's make peace with ourselves and enjoy "me time" a whole lot more of all the time.
