The Power of Intention

We take a moment in class to set an intention for our practice, our san culpa. When we set an intention with an action, (our practice) we create a certain awareness, a connectedness to it, a conscious purpose. Our intention aligns our thoughts, unconscious beliefs, capabilities and commitment. We create a cohesive quality to the work and this can begin on the mat, but with time and consistency we notice our practice beautifully blends into our why and how we do all the things off it. Yoga is far more that another fitness modality. While our asana practice uses our physical bodies and our best alignment practices to enhance our health, and while an enhancement to our health allows us to enjoy the things we do, we begin to recognize our intention is how we translate a higher purpose. Our work on the mat can certainly be a workout, but it really serves a reminder to so much more.
