Summertime and the living is easy.

Easy?? Hmmmm. Better define that. It doesn't feel "easy" to me. It feels reeeeeeeeeeeeally busy. Fun? Oh yea, but it can also be sometimes kinda a lot. Here we are trying to live our best lives, especially now in-post Covid, Independence Day this year marking independence from masks too and wow, are we ready and the party is on, but overwhelm can sit down at our banquet table too. So, we ask ourselves, what would my yoga teacher do?๐Ÿค”

Some things๐Ÿ˜

  • Wake up with wonder for the day ahead. Expect joy. Look for it.

  • Become aware of "too much." Notice your monkey brain and busy body. Awareness is where your power is rooted.

  • Attach a deep breath to that awareness. Not only a deep breath, but a long deep exhale. THIS IS KEY. Now do that one more time. Or two more times.

  • Sit down or Stand up. Whatever you are mostly doing, do the other thing. Close your eyes for a moment in stillness.

  • Hydrate. Every day. Through the day. Forgetting and then slamming a gallon of water at 8:00p is not it.

  • Eat fresh and locally grown food as much as you can and make your plate colorful. We live in Oregon! Lucky!! Fuel well. What we eat is body, brain and mind fuel.

  • Move your body. Of course, come take yoga with me. :) But, second to that is simply moving your body. Moving your body allows stuck stuff to move out as we hold so much tension in these vessels, we also hold tension in our minds and emotions. Moving body moves minds. That's cool.

  • Go for a walk, outside. Fresh morning air before 10a is great for your circadian rhythm. Level up and find a path through the woods. Evenings are my favorite too. We live where there are almost always evening breezes. I find them sweet reminders reminding me to my own breathe. It's sort of like me and my town breathe together.

  • Read a book. Slowly.

  • Be intentional and limit how much news and social media you take in daily.

  • Write.

  • Laugh. Pay attention, life is funny.
