Just me? Or do you ask why too??

I've heard it more than once that athletes rarely ask "why." Coaches dictate and athletes do. Hmmmmmmm. I've always been a bit more curious to the why. And the what and the how and the why again?? I thought it might be fun to explore the "why do we do that in yoga" a bit.

This January, we've been focusing on shoulder strength and stability. Why is that important?
Shoulder or scapula strength is important as strong shoulders promote healthy movement patterns, improve posture and muscle function. Since our bodies are interconnected, one part affects many other parts. Strengthening our shoulders can help treat and prevent injuries and allow us to move with greater ease. Shoulders strength is important for healthy posture and with that our overall core and back strength is enhanced. Science has shown that good posture bolsters focus, mood and confidence. In yoga we combine both strengthening with stretching as stretching is equally important for restoring range of motion and flexibility in order to perform every day tasks.
