Happy Earth Day (Week) Yogis!

“Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.”

~ Thich Naht Hanh

How can we be good stewards of the care and keeping of our piece of planet? We not only can plant trees, but choose to invest in good care for the ones we have. We approach and appreciate our material possessions, taking care of them so we can minimize buying over and over. We can provide bee loving, native plants in our gardens or on our patios and minimize the use of toxic pesticides and chemicals. We may pick up trash along the roadside on our walks and that simple act may powerfully move another to do the same. As yogis, let's be spreaders of light and loving our home planet.🌎

Our feet are first how we put forward acting on behalf to take care of our planet even in the smallest of ways.

Beautiful warmer weather can also often turn our attention to our feet! Maybe we start wearing sandals again or enjoy being barefoot. Maybe we start noticing our toes, our arches, our ankles and appreciate them anew. Being yogis we are more aware than most people. :)

Speaking of barefoot... (I'm such a fan!)
Years of extensive research has shown that connecting to the Earth’s natural energy, by walking barefoot on grass, sand, dirt or rock can diminish chronic pain, fatigue and other ailments that plague so many people today.  This connection is referred to as Earthing or Grounding.

In brief, when your bare feet or skin comes in contact with the earth, free electrons are taken up into the body. These electrons could be referred to as nature’s biggest antioxidants and help neutralise damaging excess free radicals that can lead to inflammation and disease in the body. The Earth is a conductor or free electrons and so are all living things on the planet, including us. The body is composed of mostly water and minerals which in combination are excellent conductors of electrons from the Earth providing there is direct skin contact or some other conductive channel for them to flow through.

The Earth’s energy upgrades one’s physiology by allowing the body to cope and repair thereby promoting wellbeing, vitality and better sleep. It also harmonizes and stabilizes the body’s basic biological rhythms, knocks down (and even knocks out) chronic inflammation and reduces and eliminates associated pain, making it the most natural and powerful anti-inflammatory and anti-aging remedy around! No matter what your age, gender, race or health status you will benefit from a daily dose of Earthing!

The foot talks to the floor and affects how the femur talks to the hip joint and visa versa. The relationship between the foot and hip bring integration and support. The ripple effect of these conversations travel beyond their origin of action and impact the alignment of the rest of the body.

We gather and begin the conversation,
