That’s you you’re talking to🥰

What do you say to yourself when you fall out of a pose, when you lose your balance, or you can't quite reach your foot or the ground or that hip crease on the other side of your body? Are you compassionate, kind, patient in your work as a yoga practitioner or is your voice harsh and condemning?

When I think back on my most impactful teachers and coaches, condemnation didn't make me a better student nor athlete. It not only caused me greater frustration but that frustration inhibited my ability toward becoming better skilled, and believing I could. On the other hand, voices of kindness, compassion, patience and persevere; fostered growth and appreciation for the process and the practice.
I found in myself a kinder voice.

In order to make the positive changes we all want in our lives, we must begin with our very own voice. Falling out of a posture in class is an opportunity to practice a kinder one. It's an opportunity to begin again. It's in that very moment we make a choice. At the threshold of that moment, recognizing the union we have with ourselves and choosing our voice begins a powerful trajectory. Love changes us from the inside. When we change our narrative, we are changing for so much more.

Next time you lose your balance in star pose or you fall out of your side plank...pause. Take in a slow, deep, life giving, energy channeling breath, re-focus to center, find your drishti, (focused gaze) and begin a new. Each time you fall, send your heart a smile, for you have just encountered a chance to rewrite into those positive changes your heart desires.

Practicing smiles. Let’s meet on the mat,
Jill💜
