Mad dash or shall we dance?
We rush from one unchecked box to the next and hope that by the end of the day, we've accomplished all the things. The rush has a rhythm. There's an intention to it at first but soon becomes our way of being. Soon it becomes our lives. It can also even become our practice on the mat. Our yoga practice is then simply another box to check. ✅ It's mainstream knowledge that the rush, the pace of modern life is a primary cause of much dis-ease. Our bodies and brains are not designed to be in constant high alert. And the body keeps score.
You made your way into a yoga class. And then another one.
It is remarkable when one day we become aware. It is far more than a biological impulse when we take action to make a change for our well being. One small change brings us notice to ourselves, to our own hearts, to our own dreams. One small adjustment requires us to slow down in order to make it. While change is dynamic and there's certainly energy to it, it's a life giving energy rather than exhaustion from expenditure. One small shift becomes a new dance step empowering over time, our build towards a whole new dance. We discover checked boxes are pretty on a page, but a mind not only open to change, but deciding for it and then taking action in body, our human heart turns from a racing one to one that dances.
Yoga is dynamic, but should never be rushed. There is rhythm, but never ruin. Challenges to hone our focus, to show forth not only our capacity for change, but that we have what we need in order to make a change. In yoga, there is never judgement but rather a deeper awareness to our wonder. There is play in exploration of body and mind. We were meant to be explorers. There is breath that brings to life, a pause, a rest, a mindful notice. There is a breath before every choice we choose.
We tap into something new when we notice it.
