I really enjoy working out and most all things athletic and fitness. I've spent much of my life inside a gym, building strength and muscle. I enjoy a good sweat, good movement and feeling strong. It's really been my jam for a long time. You may even know that for many years, I imagined one day I would become certified as a personal trainer after "training up" my children. :) When we feel better in our bodies, we feel better in our minds and a shift happens and we begin to live better more fulfilling whole lives. We affect each other and making the world a better place begins inside a gym, right?! I've also been a yoga practitioner for over 2 decades, I considered my yoga practice a supplement to my other fitness pursuits. Yoga, being never a bully, nor reprimanding over my ideology, it did begin to softly whisper new awareness. I began to notice profound breath integration and intuition infiltrating my gym training. I slowly began changing the way I had worked out all my life. I began to serve my body and my energy on any given day in ways that felt more aligning to what was present and true, no longer clenching and gripping to my strict routine and notebook logging, which by the way is a really big deal for gym rats like me. I simply trusted myself. Over time, I began leaving the notebook at home. I trusted that my body knew what it needed and I would commit to honing my listening skills over my record keeping ones in order to be healthy, fit, whole and happy. I know this takes time to develop, but truthfully,
yoga isn't a supplement to our workouts, it's the actual foundation and more.
Foundations are built first so that the rest of the building stands strong against wind and weather. (Metaphor fully intentional.) And so, after my "children were trained" I became a teacher and a continuing student of yoga in order to bring tools for building foundation to others. No man an island and an empowering community also foundational to our wholeness, was and continues to be part of my why. Thank you to all of you who walk through my studio door, roll out your mats and trust me to help guide your practice. Look at what you are all building as individuals and as a whole collective. The view is breathtaking.
With love,
Jill💜
