Welcome Summertime!

Now is the perfect time to open up the body, shed off the outer layers as we welcome warmer weather. Your yoga practice is a wonderful way to help remove the residual buildup of seriousness, stress and tension that can cling not only to winter long gone but also to over a year of pandemic life. Our bodies hang on to stuff. Our minds hang on to stuff. Yoga creates pathways for release in both.

We are taking this entire week to welcome the Summer Solstice. Even though the actual longest daylight day was yesterday, we're going to enjoy welcoming the sun all week long at Yoga On Willow! Celebrations are way too wonderful to have only one day to celebrate them, right??!

We always bring in a Sun Salutation or a few to each Flow practice, but this week, Sun A and Sun B become the stars (or sun) of the show. Sun Salutations are a linking of a specific series of postures with breath and have been practiced since ancient times. These asanas (postures) are designed to intuitively open the body, lengthening and strengthening the most essential muscles in the body, decompressing the spine and channeling breath through the entire system. Flowing through a few rounds leaves you feeling calm, clear and ready to take on anything that comes your way. Bring on those Sun Salutation Flows!!!
