Happy New Year everyone! I hope you had an enjoyable holiday season and feel the spark of anticipation, curiosity and wonder that a brand new calendar can bring. While I'm a huge fan of resets, renewals and begin-agains, I also recognize they really have very little to do with blank calendar sheets.
We gotta get our minds right. That's the garden ground of our life. Good soil to grow good and healthy plants needs be not too acidic nor too alkaline. It needs to be neutral. It needs to contain fine rock fragments in order that water is absorbed and drained properly. Insects and bacteria also create a healthy climate for growth. Ahhhhh, for the love of metaphors! For those of you who have read (and thank you for reading) enough of my whispers know, I try to take my cues from nature. I'm big on that and believe if we do that a little more often, we'll be far healthier and grow better. :)
Thank you for your kindness toward me these last several weeks. For the first half century of life, I was able to will myself and my body in the direction I put my mind to. It worked all the time. The second half of my century of life, I've determined will be a little more of my body being the boss of me. Pushing through may no longer give me my desired results, nor my best life. In nature, there is a season for everything. In our gardens, adjustments to soil, water or climate, greatly affect thriving and growth. When we adjust mindfully and intentionally, we get an opportunity to pay closer attention to our choices and the breath of them. We see chaos and clutter and hustle. We begin to notice our need to find a life with less of that and new ways to shift, come into view.
I love the view of the threshold of a new year. There's mindful awakening in it. We were never meant to stay the same and sometimes we need to get sick in order to get a whole lot better. We are nature. We grow, change and have capacity to adjust. This life we've each been given is a great teacher and a most wildly, tremendous gift. We are to use it in ways that can help us live better and more authentic lives. We inspire and elevate others from what we learn first within ourselves. Cheers to that for each and every single one of us.
